Protoevangelium Protoevangelium

Etymology: derived from two Greek words: "proto," meaning "first," and "evangelion," meaning "good news" or "gospel."

Definition: the earliest proclamation of the gospel found in Scripture

Biblical Context: In Genesis 3:15, God addresses the serpent after Adam and Eve's disobedience, stating: "I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." This was the establishment of the antithesis between good and evil, as well as a prophetic declaration of Christ's victory over Satan.

Pastoral Note: Jesus Christ conquered sin and death through His crucifixion and resurrection. Worthy is the Lamb who was slain!
