Limits to Growth

A think tank was formed in 1968 during a meeting at Rockefeller’s private house in Bellagio, Italy, called The Club of Rome, initially comprised of about 30 European scientists. The initiative was to determine the best course for deindustrialization. The idea was, that a smaller world is a better world...

The Club of Rome's "Limits to Growth" publication outlined the results of a computer simulation that suggested that economic growth could not continue indefinitely because of resource depletion. The Club of Rome was one of the first institutions to voice concerns about the impact on the environment of unprecedented economic growth. Because it was determined that industrial progress supports population growth, it was decided that depopulation of "useless eaters consuming scarce natural resources" is the best course of action. On record, the cull is "surplus population" and the targets are third or second world countries.
