The Ten Commandments

The Law Begins with Grace: The Decalogue opens not with a command, but a declaration of redemption: “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt…” (Exodus 20:2). This preamble frames the Law as a response to grace, not a prerequisite for it.

The Word of God: The law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good (Romans 7:12).
Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, for I am the Lord your God. Keep my statutes and do them; I am the Lord who sanctifies you. (Leviticus 20:7–8)
